Roller Press Shim Selection Guide: Material, Thickness & Compatibility
Roller press shims are precision components installed between rollers to adjust roller gap spacing. Shim material selection and thickness control directly affect board accuracy and equipment stability.
1. Shim Classification and Materials
- Carbon Steel Shims — Low cost, but poor wear resistance and precision retention, suitable for low-precision requirement scenarios
- Alloy Steel Shims — Good comprehensive performance, GDNOS standard material, excellent wear resistance and precision retention
- Stainless Steel Shims — Corrosion-resistant, suitable for scenarios with corrosive raw materials
- Hard Alloy Shims — Extremely high hardness, used in high-wear areas but with higher cost
2. Thickness Selection Principles
Thickness Increment Rule: Shim thickness typically progresses in 0.5mm or 1mm increments. On SACMI PCR+ machines, standard shim thickness range is 1-12mm. When selecting, back-calculate required shim combinations based on target board thickness.
3. Compatibility Checklist
- Confirm shim outer diameter matches roller bearing housing
- Confirm shim inner bore matches shaft diameter (typically H7/h6 fit)
- Confirm material hardness matches working pressure
- Confirm temperature resistance meets nip zone temperature requirements (typically requires ≥250°C resistance)
4. GDNOS Custom Shim Service
GDNOS provides non-standard shim customization services, offering precise dimension and material-matched shim solutions based on customer equipment parameters and process requirements, ensuring roller gap adjustment accuracy and stability.
